On Novemeber 28th, aka Thanksgiving, the comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) will pass the surface of the Sun. No one is quite sure what will happen… nothing, breaking apart, love at first site?

You can join Phil Platt of Bad Astronomy and NASA scientists live via Google Hangout during ISON’s journey towards the sun. The event is from 18:00 – 20:30 UTC (1:00 – 3:30 p.m. EST). Platt will be a guest in the hangout from 1:30 – 2:30 EST.

There will be live feed from NASA’s SOHO Sun-observing satellite and from the Kitt Peak Observatory solar telescope

The group will also be answering questions live from Twitter; use the hashtags #ISON and #askNASA.
