SLAC Play: The Exit Interview
Sunday, April 21, 2013
5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Salt Lake Acting Company
168 West 500 North, Salt Lake City, UT
We will be in the green room for the pre-show party, then in the larger, upstairs theater for the play.
Salt Lake Acting Company has offered us discount tickets and reserved the green room for a pre-show party for the April 21 6 pm showing of The Exit Interview by William Missouri Downs. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased directly from SLAC by calling [masked] and asking for the Atheists of Utah block of seats. Seating is limited so don’t wait to get your tickets!
Pre-show party starts at 5 pm in the green room, down the first flight of stairs, around the corner, and down the hall. The green room food/drink policy is liberal so bring your favorite libation and/or refreshment. AofU will provide Little Caesar’s Pizza for members.
The Exit Interview starts at 6 pm in the larger, upstairs theater. This raucous comedy explores the major questions of human existence within a staged world of absurdity. Playwright Downs, who also teaches classes on atheism, deism, and agnosticism, looks at Faith vs. Fate and Science vs. Religion and says,
“Faith vs. Fate: Not sure they’re at odds with each other. Faith is simply hope on steroids. Fate is only an excuse for not knowing thy self and then changing and growing.
Science vs. religion: They are locked in combat. But religion has an unfair advantage because it’s allowed to indoctrinate the children. In our society if you molest a child’s body you get twenty years in prison, if you molest their mind, you get a tax break.”
No philosophy, religion, or belief system is safe in this hilarious, bold, fresh play.
