After considering feedback from readers and CONvergence we’ve changed the harassment policy.  The previously posted policy is no longer in effect. This is the new and improved policy:

Skepchick is dedicated to facilitating public engagements that are a safe and harassment-free experience for everyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of anyone, in any form, by anyone in attendance of an event we have organized.

Those participating in SkepchickCON–the Skeptic and Science panels organized at CONvergence by Skepchick and Freethought Blogs–are all guests of CONvergence, and CONvergence has an anti-harassment policy which can be found here:

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or race.  Harassment also includes deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

We acknowledge that this event may involve socializing and alcohol. Regardless, people are expected to behave with respect for each other and should be respectful of requests by other participants to stop what they’re doing or saying if asked.

If you feel that you have been the subject of harassing behavior, or notice that someone else is being harassed, please contact a Skepchick or Freethought Blogs organizer or volunteer.  Skepchick and Freethought Blogs organizers will be happy to help participants contact the appropriate CONvergence Operations staff, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the convention. We value your attendance.
